Community Turns Out for Copley Hospital; Raising $14,000 at annual Golf ScrambleFor Immediate Release07/23/2010
“It was a perfect day for the 60 golfers participating in Copley Hospital’s annual golf tournament, and it was a successful day for our community hospital,” said Leah Hollenberger, Copley Director of Development and Marketing. The hospital’s 23rd annual Copley Golf Scramble was held on July 17th at the Copley Country Club. This year’s event netted the hospital more than $14,000. Hollenberger notes that the funds will be used to support charity care. “As a provider of healthcare services we strive to provide the highest quality care to our patients. The support of this event is a testament to the importance our community places on that Copley care,” she said. Hollenberger notes that in addition to the hospital netting more money, this year’s event added new sponsors and welcomed many new community faces.
Nearly 20 local and regional vendors sponsored the Scramble through a variety of sponsorship packages. “I want to offer my sincere appreciation to all of our sponsors, led by platinum sponsor, Hackett Valine & MacDonald and gold sponsors Union Bank and Absolute Resource Solutions,” said Hollenberger. “We are also grateful to McMahon Chevrolet Buick for their hole-in-one prizes and to the many local businesses for gift certificates.” She also acknowledged the tremendous help received from Copley Hospital Foundation Committee chair Polly Manosh who spearheaded registration; Copley Country Club Board member Tad Lamell who served as auctioneer at the pre-tournament reception and Calcutta; Pro Shop manager Brad Gregory for assisting with scoring and the presentation of prizes; Copley Chef Steve Sprague for preparing the delicious hors d’oeuvres and Club House Manager Bob Manley and staff for the great service and wonderful luncheon.
Those teams with the lowest scores, and receiving prizes were:
First Place Team:
Shawn Goodell (Morrisville), Jim Adams (Belvidere), Tom Brooks (Morrisville) and Val Hollis (Hyde Park)
Second Place Team – a team made up of Union Bank representatives:
Tom Meshako, Cynthia Borck, Jason McArthur and Schuyler Sweet
Third Place Team:
Kathy Dever (Stowe), Jason Plummer (Stowe) and Louisa and Michael Pfaelzer (both of Morrisville).
Prizes were also awarded to longest drive and closest to the pin. Winners included Cynthia Borck, Jay Lamell and Jack Cashman.
While Copley Hospital was the overall winner, Hollenberger said that everyone should consider themselves winners as their support helps our community hospital continue to deliver high quality care to those in need.
