The Stowe Weekend of Hope has become one of the most inspiring, educational and unprecedented events for cancer survivors in the country today. The event is open to survivors of all forms of cancer and their families. More than three-hundred cancer survivors and their families, from 21 states, Canada, and the Virgin Islands, and representing 46 different types of cancer attended last year’s event. It is an opportunity for survivors and their families – to learn, to share, to meet other survivors facing similar challenges, and rejuvenate their spirits and energy.
The weekend’s program highlights include an Opening Ceremony, typically attended by Vermont dignitaries, and a Closing Ceremony in the awe-inspiring Trapp Family Lodge Concert Meadow. Dozens of enlightening, educational and life-balancing forums and workshops are held throughout the weekend, free of charge, and presented by leading oncologists, medical researchers, and experts in the field of cancer and cancer-related issues. The keynote speaker will be Carrie Host, author of the memoir “Between Me and the River.” A mother of three, Host’s memoir documents her experience of living with a rare and incurable form of cancer. Members of Copley Hospital’s Cancer Care Program will be available during the Health Fair at the Stoweflake Resort on Saturday.
The Stowe Weekend of Hope is presented by the Stowe Area Association in collaboration with Copley Hospital, the Vermont Cancer Center, Central Vermont Hospital, and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
