Mansfield Orthopaedics, a practice of Copley Hospital, welcomes Certified Physician Assistant Leah Hartenstein. After completing her training as a Physician Assistant, she took an extra year to get her Master’s degree and completed two clinical rotations. One of the rotations was with the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City, an opportunity which exposed her to a variety of orthopedic procedures and conditions. Hartenstein received her Master of Science in Advanced Physician Assistant Studies from Wagner College in 2008.
Prior to Copley, Ms. Hartenstein worked at Roosevelt Hospital, a full-service community and tertiary care hospital located in New York. While there she cared for patients on both the Neuroscience and Pediatric Intensive Care Units and also provided pre and post-operative care. She has served as surgical assistant and regularly treated patients in Roosevelt’s orthopedic clinic.
Hartenstein is currently conducting clinical research on the effects of aspirin and Plavix inhibition in patients receiving endovascular stenting – a procedure that improves/restores the flow of blood and oxygen throughout the body by placing a small tube into a narrowing artery caused by plaque buildup.
Mansfield Orthopaedics creates a compassionate and efficient system of care, providing comprehensive orthopedic evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation. The practice features two board certified orthopedic surgeons: Bryan Huber, MD and Eric Mullins, MD; with sports medicine specialist Richard James, MD. Services provided include Joint Replacement; Arthritis Care; Arthroscopic Surgery; Hand, Ankle and Foot Surgery; Sports Medicine and Fracture and Trauma Care. In addition to providing surgical consultation and post-surgical care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, aquatic therapy and athletic training care are offered in collaboration with Copley Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services.
