Here are 10 reasons you don’t want to miss the 2010 Stowe Wine & Food Classic, June 18-20 at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT:
10.Chefs Mark Timms (Norma’s at Topnotch Resort and Spa) and Eric Warnstedt (Hen of the Wood) are bringing Team Vermont of James Beard fame to Sunday’s Grand Tasting.
Cellars at Jasper Hill will feature their cheeses in the Vermont Pavilion with other artisan cheese makers including Vermont Butter and Cheese, Grafton Cheese Company and Cabot of Vermont. That’s in addition to the culinary delights offered by the finest chefs in the region in the Grand Tasting Tent.
Joseph Davis of Arcadian Winery is featured at Sunday’s Grand Tasting.Inspired by the great tradition of Burgundian wine making, Joe has been making Arcadian Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah in California's CentralCoast region since 1996.
Everyone will receive a beautiful engraved Ravenscroft Crystal toasting glass to commemorate the 12th annual Stowe Wine and Food Classic.
Trapp Family Lodge Executive Chef Brian Tomlinson’s creations paired with David O’Reilly’s Owen Roe wines are sublime!The event’s planners recently held a menu tasting and are still talking about the Halibut & Sherry Roasted Yellow Pepper Vinaigrette paired with the 2009 "Crawford-Beck Vineyard" Pinot Gris. At the Friday Night Tasting, you can contrast and compare the wines of Oregon and Burgundy from 2005 vintage, including Cristom Pinot Noir Louise Vineyard 2005 from Oregon and Burgundy Francois Gaunoux Pommard “Les Tavannes” 2005 & Michel Gay Beaune Greve 2005.The tasting begins at 5pm at the West Branch Gallery and Sculpture Park.
Luxurious vacation packages will be auctioned, including getaways to Alcapulco, Jamaica, Boston and New York, plus rare and collectible wines. Part wine savant and part showman Chris Francis, also known as the proprieter of Ye Olde England Inne and the 2010 Vermont Travel Person of the Year, is the auctioneer Saturday evening.
Wine Seminars by Geroge Schwarz of Vias Imports, Owen Roe’s David O’Reilly and Dan Kravitz of Hand Picked Selections.
Annie Copps, Senior Food Editor of Yankee Magazine, will do a cooking demonstration during Sunday’s Grand Tasting. You can also meet her during Saturday evening’s gala dinner and dance.
The entire event benefits the charitable care program of Copley Hospital.
