Copley Announces After Hours Check-InContact Peter Wright, 802-888-830103/01/2007
For Immediate Release
Copley officials announced this week of a new after-hours check-in procedure. “Beginning March 5th visitors to the hospital, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., will be required to stop at the Emergency Department registration desk,” states Carol Ferrante, Senior Director of Facilities. There, Ferrante noted visitors will be required to sign in as well as indicate whom they will be visiting. “Our staff will also advise visitors to stop by on their way out to sign-out.” Recognizing that family and friends are an important part of a patient’s recovery process, Copley, unlike some hospitals does not have a visiting hours policy.
“The new procedure is an on-going effort of improving safety for our patients, staff and visitors,” said Betty Ewen, Manager Environment Safety and Security. Just last summer the hospital implemented access control, a technology that ensures safety for all through securing interior and exterior entries.
Hospital officials advise that although they do not have visiting hours there are guidelines they hope visitors and family members will respect. Those include, but not limited to, not visiting a patient if you have cold like symptoms, running a fever, or have a rash, and most importantly provide a restful environment for loved ones and others by being quiet and courteous.
“We hope visitors will see the after-hours check-in process as a positive change,” continued Ewen.
